what causes panic attacks?

Question by Mel H: what causes panic attacks?
last night i was out with friends and i had a panic attack. i wasn’t drinking, i wasn’t stressing about anything. what causes panic attacks and how i do i stop this from happening again?
it was definitely a panic attack…thats what the ambulance guys said. i dont have asthma.

anyhow, with that out of the way, if you can talk the doc into xanax it works. But most docs won’t give it out. mine cut me off after 6 months because he was worried about addiction. turns out he could give two shits about withdraw though.

Generalized anxiety disorder has been part of my life as a diagnosis for two years, though I do not remember a time without anxiety during my life.

I believe it contributed to my physical health issues with type 2 diabetes and continues to affect how well I manage my diabetes.

While anxiety and diabetes aren’t going away, I can do more to cope with what is my reality by practicing meditation and relaxation techniques rooted in Buddhism like those found in this book I’m reading.
